Everyone likes to be recognized and your referring physicians are no exception. Recognize them and/or their family, and you will receive high marks. Here are four easy ways to recognize your referring doctors:

1. Acknowledge the referring physician's accomplishments or that of their children with a written note.

2. Send a birthday card.

3. Note the nonmedical interests of your referring physicians and inform them any time you read or

    see something that they may enjoy.

4. Send unique gifts of particular interest to the referring physician.

These simple steps can make you a standout in a referring physician's mind. Don't make the mistake of assuming that because you are being used as a referral, you don't have to change your marketing strategy. Remember, new doctors are looking to gain a network of physicians as well.
